What does CNA mean in CERTIFICATIONS & DIPLOMAS

Certified Nursing Aides (CNAs) are trained healthcare workers who provide basic care to patients under the direction of nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Certified Nursing Aides help with activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, mobility and taking vital signs. They may also be asked to observe how a patient is doing overall or communicate any changes in their condition to medical staff.

Generally speaking, only a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required for entry-level CNA positions. However some states may require additional certification or training from community colleges or vocational schools prior to beginning work as a CNA in that state.

CNAs typically work in hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities as part of the support staff. In addition, they may be found working in private homes or clinics providing more personalized care for individual patients.

While experience certainly helps when applying for CNA positions it isn't always required; many employers prefer recent graduates from accredited programs due to the specialized skills they have acquired through their training program. However experience can often make you more competitive when applying for jobs.
