What does ACSE mean in ASSOCIATIONS

The Association of Consulting Structural Engineers (ACSE) is a professional body representing companies providing structural engineering services in the UK. Its aim is to ensure excellence in structural engineering services by advocating good practice and promoting technical, professional and commercial standards amongst its members.

Membership with ACSE provides valuable support and resources for all structural engineers, including access to industry-leading guidance on technical expertise, professional development and business growth. To become a member of ACSE you must first meet the Assessment Criteria which can be found on our website. This includes having at least three years' experience working in a qualified engineering capacity either as an employee or contractor. Once you have submitted your application form, it will be considered by our Membership Panel who will make a decision based on your qualifications and experience.

We usually host two conferences annually; one in the springtime that focuses on industry trends and issues and another in the autumn that specifically addresses new technologies as they apply to the field. Alongside these main events we run a variety of smaller seminars throughout the year covering topics such as sustainability, project management, health & safety etc.

At CSE we understand that networking is an invaluable tool when it comes to advancing your career within the structural engineering sector. That’s why we offer our members formal networking opportunities at both our conferences where they are able to meet up with other professionals in similar positions or industries to share ideas or make contacts for future projects. Alongside this we provide informal social events such as dinner parties so our members can socialise with their peers outside of work too!

However individual membership means there are no potential restrictions so may be preferable if you wish to keep complete control over your own activities independent from other parties.

Absolutely - aside from providing advice nationally through various publications we also regularly commission research into specific topics relevant to our field such as changes in regulations or standards affecting structural engineering services so that our members have detailed information about current trends when completing their work.

Absolutely – although CSE receives core funding from various sources throughout Europe; donations help us cover additional costs associated with projects relating to new memberships applications, training schemes etc so every penny really makes a difference here!
