CIET stands for Central Institute Of Educational Technology which is an autonomous body under the NCERT responsible for formulating policies, programmes and projects related to educational technology as well as creating a strong base by providing effective services at all levels. It strives to promote teaching-learning process through multimedia, quality instruction materials and other innovative techniques. Its initiatives have made significant contribution towards improving access, equity, quality and relevance in learning across the country.
Activities Undertaken By CIET
CIET works with several reputed national institutions like IITs, IIMs to develop curriculum based instructional materials on various topics such as Mathematics, Science, Basic Computers Education etc., for use by teachers/students all over India. It conducts research activities through seminars and workshops to develop new educational technologies that can be used at different levels including school/college classes to provide a more meaningful learning experience through newer mediums. Additionally, it also provides consultancy services for establishing electronic media laboratories in schools & colleges throughout India under its Digital School Programme (DSP).
