What does CHOA mean in HEALTHCARE

CHOA provides a wide range of medical services such as pediatric and adolescent primary care, specialty care, medical treatments, diagnostic imaging, cardiology and surgeries. The hospital also offers a variety of programs to support the mental and emotional wellbeing of children including art therapy, nutritional counseling, pet therapy and recreational activities. In addition to these services, CHOA also has world-renowned research centers where the latest advances in medical science are developed to improve the health of children around the world.

CHOA has three main hospitals located in Atlanta – Egleston Hospital at 1405 Clifton Road NE; Hughes Spalding Children’s Healthcare at 35 Jesse Hill Jr Dr SE; Scottish Rite Hospital at 1001 Johnson Ferry Road NE. There are also other locations throughout northern Georgia providing various types of care for children.

Any patient from birth up to 21 years of age may receive care at one of CHOA's facilities or through one of its outreach programs. In rare cases, some adult patients may be seen if their primary condition was diagnosed when they were younger than 21 years old and there is still an active treatment plan in place from their pediatrician.

Yes, CHOA accepts most major insurance companies including Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® as well as self-pay options. Our case management team will work with you to determine all available payment options before your appointment begins so that you know exactly what it will cost prior to receiving care.

Yes, we understand that healthcare can be expensive and strive to help families manage their costs whenever possible through our Financial Assistance Program (FAP). It is available both on a sliding scale basis and as a charity discount program based on family income level, size and other considerations that are taken into account when evaluating eligibility for FAP benefits.

Yes, visitors to any of our facilities have access to free parking on site or nearby depending on which location they are visiting. Additionally there are handicap accessible spaces available if needed for easy access into our buildings via ramps or elevators depending on the location you choose.

Yes! We understand how important it is for children to feel safe and comfortable during their stay in the hospital which is why we encourage families to bring items such as favorite blankies, stuffed animals or toys that may help them feel more secure while getting examined by one of our doctors or nurses during their visit with us.
