What does ACON mean in AUTISM

Autism Coalition of Nevada (ACON) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing products and services that enhance the lives of those affected by autism spectrum disorder in the state of Nevada. ACON works to provide individuals and their families with support, information, resources, education, training, and public awareness.

ACON does not offer direct financial assistance but it can assist individuals seeking financial help pertaining to medical treatment for autism spectrum disorder. The Financial Assistance page on our website provides info about the current available funding sources.

ACON offers a variety of services related to education, including free webinars and workshops on topics such as understanding ASD diagnosis’s, how to advocate for your child’s IEP at school, how to access county special education services, college planning, behavioral strategies and more. Additionally we also offer parent mentoring programs that are geared toward helping parents navigate through the educational system.

Our website contains a variety of resources for individuals needing assistance with autism-related issues including information about diagnosis’s and treatments, legal rights or services pertaining to disability special needs planning and guardianships, Medicaid options or eligibility requirements for various programs such as respite or therapeutic recreation services. Ambassadors provide informational literature about autism spectrum disorder to attendees in order to increase public awareness through presentations and social media campaigns. Additionally volunteers can serve on committees which advise staff on different projects such as fundraising efforts or selecting organizations that will benefit from grant money awarded by us during our annual gala event held each year during Autism Awareness Month in April.
