What does CFES mean in CANADIAN

The Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) is a national non-profit organization created to represent and support engineering students from across Canada. CFES strives to promote professional development, provide engineering students with valuable resources, and create a unified voice for representing the interests of its members.

Yes, membership is open to any member of an accredited Canadian university or college that has an active student chapter as part of their engineering program.

As a member, you will gain access to exclusive networking opportunities with fellow engineers from across the country, access to scholarships & grants, and discounts on conferences and other relevant events. You will also be eligible to participate in our annual National Congress and have the opportunity to hold leadership positions within your local student chapter or at the National level.

Yes! As a member of CFES you also have automatic membership with Engineers Canada and receive their magazine called “The Commentary” each month as well as newsletters they publish that keep you informed about activities happening within the profession. You also get great discounts for career fairs held by Engineers Canada as well as IEEE magazines.

Absolutely! We strongly encourage all our members to get involved in leadership roles within their local student chapters or at the National level. There are various ways you can get involved such as becoming a Board Member for your local chapter, or volunteering for committees at the National level such as Communications, Equity & Diversity or Student Engagement committees just to name a few!

Yes! We offer several mentorship programs throughout Canada which connects students majoring in Engineering with professionals who have been working in their field for some time so that our members can benefit from real-world experiences passed down by these mentors. They often serve as role models and help guide younger generations into successful careers after graduation.

Becoming an official volunteer for CFES requires completion of an online application form which includes details about your educational background, previous experience (if applicable), skillset and goals. After submitting it online we will review your application and contact you if selected for further steps or process – if successful we will welcome you aboard!

CFES seeks not only support its members’ academic growth but also promote social responsibility initiatives amongst engineering students by engaging them in various community service projects throughout their years spent studying engineering while providing meaningful opportunities through volunteering which not only helps foster closer relationships between its members but also allows them contribute positively towards making a difference in their communities.

Each year we host two major events – one international conference called “EngSave” which serves as an opportunity for students from around the world come together and share ideas about sustainable development; secondly we host our annual National Congress bringing together hundreds of delegates from across Canada discussing relevant issues facing engineering today – this event also consists of various workshops where delegates learn new skills related to communication, networking, public speaking etc…
