What does CFBC mean in UNCLASSIFIED

CFBC stands for Circulating Fluidised Bed Combustion. It is a method of burning coal that uses a circulating stream of heated air to keep the coal particles suspended and mix with oxygen-rich air to facilitate combustion.

In CFBC, pulverized coal is mixed with limestone or other sorbents before being injected into an elevated chamber where combustion occurs in the presence of heated air supplied by fans. The hot gases created during the combustion process pass through specially designed filters which capture particulates and reduce emissions before being released into the atmosphere.

There are several advantages of using CFBC compared to traditional methods of combusting coal. These include greater efficiency, lower emissions, lower operating costs, improved safety, and reduced maintenance requirements. In addition, it also reduces sulfur dioxide emissions from burning sulfur-containing coals without additional measures such as scrubbing or changing fuel sources.
