What does CETR mean in COMMUNITY

CETR is a type of pedagogical approach that encourages students to learn through participating in hands-on activities in the surrounding community. This model of teaching integrates the theoretical concepts covered in the classroom with practical experiences, allowing students to develop knowledge and apply their learning in real life contexts.

The intent of CETR is for students to gain experience through engagement with local organizations and initiatives, enabling them to apply their knowledge to address social issues from a grassroots level. Through this approach, students are able to gain valuable skills such as problem solving, communication, teamwork and collaboration.

Examples may include working with a local charity or non-profit organization on a project or initiative; researching an issue such as poverty or food security; or engaging in civic participation activities such as volunteering at a soup kitchen or community garden.

Both faculty members and students can benefit from CETR's interactive approach to learning by gaining valuable experience that can be used inside and outside the classroom. Furthermore, communities can also benefit from increased awareness about social issues and increased participation in local projects.

In addition, there may be ethical considerations when engaging with vulnerable populations or those affected by social issues which need to be taken into account when developing class activities related to CETR.
