What does ACIC mean in COMPANIES & FIRMS

The Association of California Insurance Companies (ACIC) is a trade association representing insurers writing property and casualty insurance in California. ACIC’s mission is to protect the ability of its members to serve Californians by monitoring, influencing, and advocating for laws, regulations, and rulings which affect insurance rates, availability and quality in California.

The ACIC works to ensure that their members are able to successfully serve consumers in California by providing assistance with regulatory initiatives and legal challenges, as well as offering education on all aspects of property and casualty insurance. They also provide media relations strategies for their members in order to stay up-to-date on industry issues that may affect them.

The ACIC provides a wide range of services for its members including regulatory advocacy at both the state and federal level; educational programs such as webinars, conferences, seminars; policy analysis; participation in legislative forums; resources such as legal briefs and manuals; media relations strategies; various publications such as newsletters, reports etc.; access to resources from other insurance-related associations; and online testing for licensing requirements.

Membership is open to licensed insurers writing property & casualty business in California. Non-insurer service providers may join as associate members if sponsored by an insurer member. Industry suppliers may also join on an affiliate membership basis.

Members benefit from a range of services offered by the Association including access to extensive data sources, discounts on educational programs or materials, representation before state regulators and lawmakers, up-to-date information about new developments impacting insurance companies and much more.

All events hosted by the Association can be found on their website under “Events” or “Calendar” tab. In addition you can also join one or more interest groups that specializes in topics relevant to your needs such as Legal/Regulatory Updates or Reinsurance/Treaty Issues group. You will then receive email notifications for all upcoming events related to those interest groups.

Yes! The Association offers several training workshops throughout year which cover topics such as Regulation & Legislation Update Training, Insurance Basics Training Program for New Hires or Regulatory Requirements Training Series among others. Yes! Students enrolled at accredited universities who will be working towards a degree related to insurance are eligible for free student membership with full access rights similar to regular member companies.
