The Council of Canadian Departments of Psychology (CCDP) was founded in 1976 with the aim of promoting cooperative relationships between Canadian departments and institutions involved in psychological research, teaching and service. It was formed from the amalgamation of two existing organizations; The Association des Psychologues du Canada (APC) based at Laval University, Quebec City; and the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA). CCDP's roots can be traced back to 1892 when APC was formed. In 1997 it became registered as a non-profit corporation under a new name; Council of Canadian Departments of Psychology (CCDP).
