What does YHO mean in YOUTH

Youth Honors Orchestra (YHO) is a premier youth symphony orchestra in the United States. It offers exceptional performance opportunities to young talent ages 13-19, providing them with professional instruction and support from some of the finest music educators in the business. YHO strives to create an atmosphere of excellence, camaraderie, and respect while teaching life skills such as discipline, collaboration, and leadership.

To become a regular member of YHO, you must audition for a seat as part of our annual auditions process taking place in spring each year. You must be between the ages of 13-19 years old by June 1st of the same calendar year.

No, late applications will not be accepted. All past audition materials must be submitted by mid-March for consideration at that year's auditions.

We typically have three or four rehearsals per month held on Saturdays during the school year season which generally run from September through mid-July depending on concerts and events. Each rehearsal period runs approximately two hours long so our members gain valuable performance experience while building relationships with members of their section and across our entire organization.

The core instrumentation for YHO includes strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon), brass (trumpet, french horn trombone), percussion(timpani and various other percussion)and harp.

No, transportation is not provided by YHO so it is up to members to arrange their own travel arrangements to and from rehearsals/performances/events unless otherwise arranged with parents or guardians ahead of time if needed.

During the school year season we typically perform two major concerts (Fall & Spring) featuring both chamber and full symphonic music styles while also offering several side performances throughout the school year such as solo recitals or educational outreach concerts at local schools or churches. In addition we offer an international tour every other summer where qualified members are able to travel abroad together for an enriching performance experience!

Yes! We offer scholarships to qualified applicants from outside our area who demonstrate financial need but would still like to participate in our program! Scholarships are limited but we encourage all interested applicants to apply as early as possible so your application may be considered for scholarship opportunities prior to registration deadlines if available.

Our normal tuition fees are set yearly based on our budget requirements but range between $600 - $1125 per student depending on size instrumentation used during performances etc...Scholarship opportunities are available upon request so please contact us directly if you require additional information regarding pricing options and availability.
