The ACFT consists of 6 events that focus on various elements of strength, power, endurance, balance, agility, speed, coordination and flexibility. Each event has a set goal such as completing 3 deadlifts in 2 minutes or running 2 miles in no less than 16 minutes with proper gear or completing a standing long jump of at least 8 feet while maintaining balance and control. All the events are completed in one day with at least 10 minutes rest between tests depending on the intensity of each exercise and type of gear used. Upon completion of the test, each soldier will be given an overall score based on their performance in all 6 events.
