What does AASA mean in MISCELLANEOUS

History

The company was founded by two businessmen – Ernest Oppenheimer and Harry J. Oppenheimer – in 1917 as an industrial diamond mining operation. As they developed their business, they expanded into other precious stones such as gold, platinum, uranium, copper, cobalt and nickel. From then on, AASA began to expand its core operations to include mineral processing plants for all of these materials within the same geographic region. This diversification of production allowed AASA to quickly become an industry leader throughout South Africa and beyond. In subsequent years, AASA continued to develop its business further by taking part in projects that harnessed new technologies for mineral extraction processes as well as investing heavily in research and development to create more efficient extraction methods and machinery that would be cost effective for the company while also benefiting local communities through job creation programs and infrastructure construction initiatives.
