Who We Are
The TBDT was founded over 20 years ago as a locally based charity to provide small grants and assistance to community groups throughout the valley. Since then, our remit has grown considerably. Our team now consists of experts in project development and management, finance and business expertise, as well as individuals passionate about seeing real change in their communities. Our work today covers areas such as housing, training and employment, enterprise initiatives, and improving physical activity levels within the valley.
What We Do
The TBDT supports registered charities, social enterprises, local authorities, schools and other organizations working across many different sectors of the community. Through our efforts we have been able to provide financial assistance through grant funding for development projects or activities which help bring economic benefit or betterment to the people who live in our communities. This includes providing grants for training courses enabling residents to develop their skills or start businesses; supporting home improvements for vulnerable families; setting up enterprise hubs for small businesses; facilitating programmes for young people in finance saving/education; investments in youth clubs etc.
Our team also provides expert advice on various aspects of developing projects from concept through to completion including helping with legal requirements compliance and evaluation criteria necessary for successful applications for funding. In addition we offer advice on good governance essentials such as setting up boards of trustees or how to become a Community Interest Company (CIC).
