What does IEGP mean in EDUCATIONAL

The Innovative Education Grant Program (IEGP) is a grant program that awards funding to organizations and individuals to help advance innovative approaches to education in the United States. It supports initiatives that promote learning opportunities for learners of all ages, income levels, and backgrounds. These grants are aimed at advancing typologies of teaching and learning that improve student engagement, use technology for greater impact, and increase access to educational resources.

Any individual or organization working in the area of educational studies or practices may be eligible for the IEGP. Individuals must demonstrate their work in this field through a resume or other evidence of expertise. Organizations must provide a valid tax ID number prior to submitting an application.

Projects funded by IEGP can incorporate research, design, implementation, assessment, dissemination, or scaling-up of innovative education approaches that leverage existing technologies or develop new ones. This can include initiatives such as but not limited to virtual and augmented reality content creation; artificial intelligence-based models; mobile applications; smart materials; data science/learning analytics; gamification; online educational platforms; collaboration software tools; robotics; wearables/IoT devices for learning; simulations/virtual labs and more.

Grants awarded through the IEGP vary depending on the nature of the project being pursued. Award amounts can range from $5,000 - $100,000 per project depending on its scope and complexity.

Applications open June 1st annually and close September 29th annually each year with approval decisions made by December 15th of the same year. Recipients must have completed all necessary paperwork before January 30th following their award decision date in order to receive funds.

All applications are reviewed by an independent panel composed of individuals representing various sectors including K-12 education providers, higher education institutions, industry players, educators, researchers/academics at universities such as Harvard University as well as non-profit organizations focused on improving K-12 outcomes and expanding access to quality education experiences in both formal and informal settings.

The review process takes approximately two months from when applications open until decisions are announced. Applicants will be notified directly about their application status after the review process has been completed.
