What does EDAB mean in UNCLASSIFIED

EDAB conducts a wide range of ecosystem-based research on tropical fish communities in the Atlantic Ocean, coral reef assessment in the Caribbean, zooplankton biomass patterns in the Pacific Ocean, more efficient delivery models for stock assessment activities, development of ecological risk assessment models for data-poor species in fisheries management contexts, and performance of aquatic health studies.

EDAB assesses both existing data sets as well as collecting primary data from surveys. Surveys are conducted using scientific methods such as bottom trawling or underwater ROVs to collect samples. These samples are then analyzed on shore or by remote laboratories to establish trends or relationships between factors such as species composition or habitat conditions.

The results from EDAB's assessments are used by NOAA staff, state resource managers, and industry representatives for a variety of marine-related applications including fisheries management, environmental compliance activities, and other decision support services.
