What does SCSP mean in CLINICAL MEDICINE

The Scholars in Clinical Science Program (SCSP) provides medical research training to individuals who may not have had access to research-based education due to certain circumstances. It seeks to create a pathway for students with diverse backgrounds, interests, and experiences to explore clinical science and gain greater exposure within the field.

Individuals who demonstrate strong aptitude or interest in clinical research and commit to two years of full-time study are eligible. Applicants should be residents of an underrepresented population including but not limited to first-generation college students, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, those from low-income households, students with disabilities or health impairments, and veterans.

Through SCSP, participants can choose from a variety of courses focusing on common clinical topics such as epidemiology, biostatistics & data science, disease management & outcomes research, clinical trial methodology & research design. In addition, each participant will receive personalized mentorship throughout their program experience.

No – admission into the Scholar’s Program is free of charge. SCSP does offer financial support for travel related expenses and other educational costs that may arise through participation in this program.

Applicants must submit proof of citizenship/residency status along with a completed application form describing previous coursework and academic standing. Furthermore applicants must submit letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with their academic background. Lastly applicants must consent to use of sensitive information related to health condition[s] which may affect their ability to participate fully in activities required by SCSP.

Yes - International students interested in applying must provide evidence of their ability to remain legally enrolled at their current institution throughout the duration of SCSP’s program cycle (two-year commitment). Citizen[ship] status requirements vary based upon individual country regulations but all applicants must provide appropriate documents verifying eligibility upon request prior to admission into SCSP's program cycle.

Yes – Individuals who have already begun postgraduate studies are highly encouraged to apply; however they should be aware that admission decisions are determined at multiple stages during review process and acceptance into SCSP cannot be guaranteed until all materials have been adequately evaluated during consideration process.

Upon successful completion of both years within the program, participants will receive recognition as "Scholar Graduates" which includes documentation on transcript as well as increased access to various professional opportunities including internships, fellowships/postdocs and employment positions within biomedical research sector.
