What does GBYA mean in CONSERVATION

GreenBelt Youth Ambassadors (GBYA) is an international program dedicated to engaging young people committed to advocating for sustainable development and global resiliency. It involves fostering a community of learners who work together to promote awareness and action on social justice issues worldwide.

GBYA is open to any young person between the ages of 18-30 who has a willingness to learn about sustainability, resiliency, and social justice issues. There are no academic requirements needed for participation in this program.

As part of the program participants engage in various educational opportunities through seminars, lectures, workshops and activities aimed at strengthening their knowledge about sustainability topics. They also have hands-on learning experiences including field trips and volunteer days where they can interact with local organizations related to sustainable development projects.

GBYA seeks to make an impact by empowering individuals with the knowledge they need to become effective agents of change within their communities. It works collaboratively with local organizations that promote sustainability initiatives and it provides a platform for young people to bring attention to pressing environmental problems through advocacy efforts such as public speaking events and online campaigns.

By joining the program students gain valuable skills related to problem solving, communication, project management, team building, research methods and more. In addition members build strong networks both locally and globally where they can exchange ideas with fellow youth activists from different backgrounds. Plus there are long-term benefits like increased career opportunities by gaining real world experience related to sustainability topics.
