Purpose

History

The BBLS was founded in 1966 by a group of railway enthusiasts who were concerned about the preservation of locomotives that had served during the Battle of Britain. The society's first acquisition was LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No. 45212, which had hauled trains carrying troops and supplies during the war.

The BBLS currently owns and operates a fleet of steam locomotives that were used in the Battle of Britain, including:
