What does HHH mean in HEALTHCARE

Healthcare for the Homeless Houston (HHH) is a nonprofit organization that provides free, comprehensive healthcare services to homeless individuals and families in Houston and other surrounding communities. We strive to provide access to medical, dental as well as mental health care in combination with case management services for those who are unable to access or afford care elsewhere.

HHH offers a wide range of health care services including primary care, mental health and addiction counseling, HIV/AIDS testing and treatment, chronic disease management as well as vision and dental care. We also provide homeless outreach services such as referrals to housing programs, employment assistance, social service benefits eligibility screenings, meals, clothing and hygiene supplies.

At HHH all individuals are welcome regardless of their insurance coverage or ability to pay. We will always work with you to identify resources that may cover all or part of your costs. Our staff members can answer any questions you may have regarding eligibility requirements upon your application submission.

There is no charge for our lower-cost options such as charity care or sliding-scale fees based on income level. If you have private insurance coverage we also accept most major plans including Medicaid/CHIP/Medicare/TRICARE. Please check with us before scheduling an appointment if you would like more information about out-of-pocket costs associated with individual providers and procedures.

At HHH we accept cash payments (exact change only please), credit cards (Visa & MasterCard), cashier’s checks, money orders and travelers’ checks - as well as payment plans if necessary. We also provide discounts through some private insurance companies and government programs such at Medicaid/CHIP/Medicare/TRICARE – please inquire about these options at time of scheduling an appointment.

Yes, walk-ins are allowed provided we have available room on our schedule – however we recommend calling ahead so that we can better serve your needs quickly without having to wait in line too long during busy times or when short staffed due to high volume demand days. For same day appointments it’s best to call ahead!

Appointments are highly recommended but not required in order for you receive services at Health Care for the Homeless Houston - although if it is a same day appointment then it would be beneficial for both patient & provider if one has been previously scheduled so that wait times can be minimized as much as possible in accordance with specific provider availability/scheduling & demand load patterns.
