What does ACEG mean in AFRICAN

The African Centre for Economic Growth (ACEG) is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote economic prosperity and create jobs in Africa. Founded in 2009, ACEG is a catalyst of growth through public policy research and advocacy, technical assistance to governments and public-private partnerships.

The African Centre for Economic Growth focuses on creating macroeconomic conditions that are conducive to attractive investment climates. This includes providing advice on regional integration, trade policies, exchange rate regimes, foreign direct investment (FDI), financial sector reform and access to finance. ACEG also conducts research on fiscal strategies and policies that can improve public service delivery while promoting economic growth.

ACEG helps governments make evidence-based decisions by providing tailored technical assistance to those seeking to advance their countries’ economic development. This includes enhancing capacity building programmes, preparing feasibility studies, facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues as well as training in public sector management best practices such as project management tools, budgeting systems and monitoring & evaluation tools.

ACEG facilitates public-private partnerships between private sector organisations and governments in order to foster an enabling environment for business growth with positive impacts on citizens’ lives. These partnerships are often designed around mutually reinforcing objectives such as job creation, increased investments, improved services or technology transfer. In addition, ACEG offers mediation services when conflicts arise between stakeholders during the contracting process or following execution of contracts.

Some examples include developing a strategy document outlining short and medium term strategies for Mozambique’s agribusiness sector; designing an action plan for promoting sustainable fisheries in Ghana; offering training workshops on economic competitiveness in Ethiopia; organising multi-stakeholder consultation sessions aimed at addressing migration issues in Sierra Leone; analysing transport infrastructure needs in Uganda; conducting assessments focusing on renewable energy solutions as well as access to rural finance across East Africa.

No, ACEG does not directly fund any projects but provides technical support instead to help strengthen research capabilities within existing funding frameworks. However ACEG has established strategic collaborations with other major donors that may offer financial support upon request from partner organisations.
