History
The college was founded in 1963 by Dr. B.D Jatti who was the then Chief Minister of Karnataka State with the help of generous donation from Sri Gopalrao Deshpande, an industrialist from Belgaum district who contributed 2 lakhs for the establishment of the institute. With this vision in mind, it has grown over the years from being a small medical college affiliated to Mysore university to becoming one of India’s most reputed medical institutes under KLE University offering state-of-the-art facilities for research and training in multiple streams such as Medicine, Surgery, Biotechnology etc.
