What does BCBA mean in SLANG

You must have a minimum of a Master's degree in a field related to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Many programs require an accredited graduate certificate in ABA or a doctoral degree in psychology or behavior analysis.

People of all ages may benefit from the services provided by BCBAs. From infants and young children with special needs to teenagers with autism spectrum disorder and adults challenged by anxiety disorders or other psychological challenges, individuals with developmental disabilities can greatly benefit from the specialized services provided by BCBAs.

It typically takes two to three years for someone to become certified as a BCBA once they have met the educational requirements such as obtaining a master's degree in applied behavior analysis from an accredited university program.

Board Certified Bad A**es are responsible for creating strategies that will help target behaviors such as aggression, self-injurious behavior or disruptive/challenging behaviors exhibited by individuals receiving behavioral supports. They use evidence based practices such as functional assessment methods and behavior analytic models when developing individualized treatment plans for each client under their care. In addition they may be involved in data collection via direct observation or through reports given by family/caregivers; writing/reviewing/updating client profiles; monitoring progress; providing staff training; attending meetings/trainings relevant to best practices regarding Applied Behavior Analysis; writing/monitoring client evaluations/goals/objectives etc.; authoring reports related to client progress etc.
