What does SHDP mean in HEALTHCARE

Main Body

SHDP works with multiple partners including government departments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), universities/research institutions and private sector entities in order to strengthen capacities at local level and deliver effective interventions across sectors. The aim of SHDP is to reduce poverty by increasing economic opportunities for people living in poverty while also promoting social equality through improved access to services including health care, education and basic amenities. Through an intensive process of dialogue with stakeholders from the community level upwards, this program develops multidimensional solutions that are tailored to the specific needs in each locale. Activities implemented under this program often focus on creating resilient and inclusive systems that effectively deliver services irrespective of gender identity or other forms of discrimination.

These activities include but are not limited to providing primary health care services; facilitating children's pre-primary education; establishing safe spaces for children; creating better learning environments; developing irrigation schemes; promoting food security; strengthening community participation; improving sanitation facilities; ensuring gender equality; promoting Non Formal Education (NFE); enhancing research and development activities at grass root level; providing vocational training etc. SHDP also seeks to empower local communities by developing their capacity building and leadership initiatives so that they are able build sustainable livelihoods for themselves.
