What does CECS mean in COLLEGES

The College of Engineering and Computer Sciences (CECS) is one of the seven schools at Notre Dame and offers undergraduate degrees in several engineering fields as well as computer science. We're dedicated to providing students with top-notch instruction, research opportunities, and career preparation.

The programs CECS offers include aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, mineral resource technology, photonics & laser technology, and computer science.

Yes! CECS offers a wide range of master’s degrees including Environmental Change & Sustainability Science, Civil Engineering Innovation & Technology Management Systems Integration; and Master's in Engineering with concentrations in Aerospace Manufacturing Processes, Biomedical Signal Analysis & Modeling; Electrical Power Systems/Computer Security. Additionally we have two doctoral programs in Civil Engineering Innovation & Technology Management Systems Integration and Photonics & Optoelectronics.

Absolutely! Notre Dame offers a variety of scholarships designed to help cover shortfalls in financial aid or provide additional support for topics related to studies within our college such as those associated with research expenditures. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information about applying for these scholarships.

Applicants must first submit an application through either the Common Application or Coalition Application along with other required materials such as transcripts and test scores (ACT or SAT). Once your initial application has been processed by the Admissions Office they will notify you if an additional application is required for admission into our college specifically. A strong background in mathematics—at least through calculus—is essential for success within our college so taking coursework that covers pre-calculus topics is always beneficial whether during your high school years or after matriculating at Notre Dame itself. Also be sure to take advantage of extracurricular activities like robotics clubs or design competitions that involve problem solving skills since these experiences are great resume builders too!

Many students choose our college because our faculty are committed to providing hands-on learning experiences through unique opportunities like summer internships abroad; research projects with industry partners; lab courses that allow them to work directly on real world problems; study away trips; and collaborations with other universities around the country/world.
