What does BBH mean in HEALTHCARE

The primary mission of the BBH is to protect and promote public safety by assuring that only qualified professionals provide behavioral health services. The board also works to increase public awareness by providing resources and guidance on behavioral health topics.

The BBH oversees licensed social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, psychologists, clinical nurse specialists, addiction counselors and other behavioral health professionals in Montana.

The BBH provides a range of services including licensing, setting practice standards and regulations, investigating complaints against practitioners, conducting inspections of facilities offering behavioral health services, providing educational resources for licensees and members of the public, as well as disciplining those who have violated ethical standards or laws governing their profession.

To become licensed with the BBH you must complete an application form along with any additional supporting documentation requested such as proof of education or supervised experience hours. All applicants must pass a criminal background check before becoming eligible for licensing. Additionally, all licensees need to keep up-to-date with ongoing continuing education requirements related to their profession in order to remain informed about best practices in their field.
