History
CFAD was launched in 2012 by a group of like-minded professionals who saw the need for an independent organization to foster interdisciplinary thinking on issues related to our built environment. The Center is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and consists of academics from several different countries around the world who specialize in various aspects of architecture, urbanism and design. The founding members had a shared vision that "architecture is not only about buildings but also about people". Over the years CFAD has grown into an internationally recognized institution with members from more than 15 countries around the world.
Programs
CFAD offers a variety of courses ranging from workshops on successful project management strategies to lectures on advanced principles of sustainable design. CFAD organizes regular symposia and conferences bringing together leading experts from different fields to share their knowledge on current trends in architecture, urbanism, digital fabrication technologies as well as critical thinking about societal challenges. In addition to its academic activities CFAD also carries out research projects such as energy efficiency studies or user surveys at heritage sites or new developments which are then used to help inform decision making processes for future projects.
