Airports Authority of India (AAI) is a statutory body created by an act of Parliament of India in the year 1994. It is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure both on the ground and air-side in India.

The primary mission of AAI is to create, upgrade, maintain and manage civil aviation infrastructure both on the ground and airside. It also provides regulatory functions such as air traffic management services over Indian airspace and enactment of regulations regarding aircraft operation over Indian soil. Additionally, it handles scheduled services at 34 international airports and 78 domestic airports across India.

Yes, AAI provides navigational aid services using a network of visual aids such as lighted beacons/navigation lights at landing sites as well as non-directional radio beacons that help guide pilots during airborne navigation activities like precision approach operations or during instrument flying conditions due to bad weather or low visibility.
