The Dallas Basketball Officials Association (DBOA) is an organization of referees in the Greater Dallas area who are dedicated to providing quality officiating for basketball games at all levels. How do I become a member of DBOA?

To join as a referee with the Dallas Basketball Officials Association, you must be at least 18 years old and have completed a comprehensive New Referee Training Clinic. You will need to obtain approval from the DBOA Executive Board before becoming an official member.

Can I work towards becoming a certified official with DBOA?

Yes! We offer five different grades of certification from Grade 1 up to Grade 5, which reflects your experience level as an official. Reasonable wages vary depending on different factors such as location & type of match-up (level & division). To ensure fairness among our members, we use a “point system” that rewards officiating performance following each game via quantitative assessments along with other considerations like schedule availability & travel distance etc., which determines one's position within our pay scale bracket each season in accordance with predetermined payment rates per job assignment.

In case any disputes occur during matches how would it be addressed?

All 91 registered schools across Greater Dallas participate in handling those occurrences under Texas High School Athletic Association guidelines when necessary while keeping safety & fairness as primary concerns in mind when making decisions regarding resolution according to state athletic association regulations &/or respective school district policies/procedures where applicable.
