What does PTRO mean in RESEARCH

The Peace Training and Research Organisation (PTRO) is a global consultancy and research organization dedicated to building bridges between communities, countries, governments and cultures. Our aim is to create a better understanding of the key concepts of peacebuilding, peacekeeping, conflict prevention and resolution, security sector reform, development and humanitarian assistance. We provide training, consulting services and research to international organisations, governments, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.

PTRO undertakes a variety of activities related to peacebuilding and conflict prevention with our partner organizations in different parts of the world. These include but are not limited to designing capacity-building programmes for civil society actors at local level; training workshops on mediation processes; facilitating dialogue sessions between different stakeholders in post-conflict environments; designing joint strategy documents for government institutions working on conflict resolution or reconciliation efforts; developing of gender-based frameworks for working with communities affected by violence; collecting data for policy development related to peacebuilding initiatives; providing research support to development actors in their evaluation efforts; delivering lectures at universities or conferences on new trends in conflict prevention approaches.

At PTRO we offer customised trainings according to customer needs which range from basic awareness seminars on conflict resolution topics up to advanced negotiation skills workshops. All trainings are conducted by experienced practitioners from diverse backgrounds including political science academics, experienced mediators/ facilitators from various diplomatic corps around the globe as well as experts in fields such as human rights protection or infrastructure building projects. Furthermore all members within our organisation participate regularly in conferences and activities offered by other peacebuilding organisations worldwide so that they can continuously update their capacity building toolkits with innovative practices which are being implemented across regions experiencing extended conflicts.

The primary objective within all our research activities is gaining valuable insights into how local contexts shape peace processes at national level while focusing both on theoretical understandings as well as practical learnings from ongoing engagement projects worldwide. Our main areas of enquiry involve comprehensive case studies exploring impacts caused due post conflict situations such as deforestation patterns due to uprooted populations along armed conflicts zones or identification processes aiming at recognizing victims of human rights abuses after protracted deployments within warring factions etcetera. We also ensure that our findings are made available through both academic publications such as peer reviewed journal articles but also through educational content presented through popular media channels like podcasts & webinars so that more people have access to those important messages regarding sustainable solutions for ending violent confrontations across countries.

So far we have undertaken over 300 successful missions impacting beneficiaries across 30 countries worldwide ranging “from grassroots civil society organisations operating within military occupation zones up until high ranking government officials implementing reconciliation strategies” according UN representatives who participated actively during some projects conducted under PTRO administration During 2016 -2017 alone over 20 thousand people were trained in various capacities contributing directly towards increasing peace dividends among populations exposed previously to violent clashes & protracted talks involving hostile parties.
