What does BTC mean in COUNCIL

The British TaekwonDo Council (BTC) is the national governing body for TaekwonDo in the UK. It is responsible for setting standards for training, instructing and grading to ensure excellence in both sport and martial arts. The BTC is a member of the World Taekwondo Federation and works closely with other national federations to ensure that TaekwonDo remains a safe and enjoyable experience for all its practitioners.

Becoming a member of the BTC gives practitioners access to official recognition from WTF-certified assessors, which enables greater opportunities to progress their own practice through effective teaching and competition. Members also receive discounts on insurance cover, access to exclusive events, as well as representational support both nationally and internationally.

Interested individuals can apply to become members by completing an application form online or by post, along with relevant supporting documentation such as proof of identity. An individual's membership will be valid until their next renewal date which should be indicated on their membership certificate.

Yes, only those over 18 years old may apply for full membership with the BTC. However, those under 18 may still join but will need parental/guardian consent during registration; Jnr membership if they are between 12 - 17 years old and Sub-Jnr membership if they are 11 years old or younger.

Yes, to become a full member of the BTC there is an annual fee payable in addition to any club fees or course fees where applicable. Members will usually pay their subscription directly to either their club or provider before it is sent through to the BTC office for processing.
