What does MOS mean in ONCOLOGY

The mission of MOS is to provide leadership, support and advocacy for its members in their pursuit of quality cancer care.

Physicians, physicians' assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners and other health care professionals committed to the field of oncology are eligible for membership in MOS.

MOS provides its members with continuing education courses around ethical conduct and clinical practice; networking events; up-to-date information about advances in cancer treatment; advocacy efforts at state and national levels; resources regarding insurance reimbursement and regulations; assistance connecting patients with clinical trial available; assistance providing access to oral chemotherapy agents; assistance obtaining access to appropriate medications; lobby against restrictive government regulations that negatively affect oncology practices; awards programs recognizing outstanding contributions by members; public relations campaigns aimed at raising awareness about important issues related to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

Members receive access an expansive library containing news updates about advances in research and treatments for cancer patients as well as guidelines for preventive screenings and diagnoses protocols. The library also contains valuable information about communication techniques for fostering positive relationships between providers and patient families. Additionally, members may attend annual meetings offering an opportunity for dialogue between practicing oncologists from different regions discussing scientific advancements from throughout the year.
