What does BSDC mean in DEVELOPMENT

The Business and Sustainable Development Commission (BSDC) is an independent body created to provide advice, guidance, evidence, and perspectives on how businesses can align their strategies with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The BSDC helps businesses by providing advice and guidance on how to best optimize their operations and investments for a more sustainable future. Additionally, it provides evidence-based research on how specific corporate strategies can positively impact sustainability goals.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals are 17 targets aimed at achieving a better and more sustainable future for all people. These goals focus on areas such as quality education, good health care, clean water & sanitation, gender equality and climate action.

The BSDC consists of leaders from business, civil society organizations and international experts who are committed to driving forward business engagement with the SDGs. They include CEOs from large multinationals, entrepreneurs from emerging markets, heads of international organizations as well as Nobel laureates.

The BSDC works with companies of all sizes — from large global multinationals down to small local businesses. Its goal is to make sure that all types of companies understand the relevance of aligning themselves with the SDG agenda in order to drive positive change in our world today.
