What does AAHS mean in SCHOOLS

At Alexandria Area High School, students are able to access a wide range of academic options. Our core curriculum includes mathematics, science, social studies, physical education/health and language arts. Additionally, we offer accelerated courses such as honors/Advanced Placement (AP) courses in multiple subject areas. Furthermore, our Career & Technical Education department offers courses in areas like coding and robotics, business/marketing/management and healthcare.

Alexandria Area High School is a public school and does not require tuition for enrollment. All fees associated with attendance are covered by the district through taxation or other local funding sources.

At Alexandria Area High School we recognize how important it is to involve students in activities that extend beyond the classroom setting. We offer numerous co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities for students such as athletics (including football, basketball, baseball, cross country golf etc.), the Arts (including band, choir and theatre), speech and debate team as well as student government associations. Additionally there are several specialty clubs that may vary from year to year depending on student interest.

While AAHS encourages self-expression through clothing choices within reason, we have implemented a dress code policy in order to ensure that our learning environment remains focused on academics rather than fashion trends. Yes! We provide free breakfast for all students every morning before first period begins along with lunch mid-day during each regular school day with options ranging from healthy snacks to full meal selections.

Absolutely! Here at AAHS we make sure that all of our students have access to the resources they need for success regardless of their individual circumstances or abilities. Our Special Education Department provides those with varied educational needs help understanding materials being taught coursework modifications when needed as well as extended testing time according to IEP requirements if applicable.

Yes! At AAHS we have an after-school tutoring program run by several high achieving teachers who offer one-on-one assistance with any academic subject or project you may need help with Mondays through Thursdays from 2pm - 5pm each day.
