What does BSAC mean in CLUBS

The British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) is a non-profit sports and leisure organisation dedicated to encouraging and developing scuba diving in Britain. Founded in 1953, BSAC offers qualifications, training courses, clubhouse facilities and more to nearly 30,000 members worldwide.

BSAC provides a wide range of activities for its members, including scuba diving courses, courses on ocean conservation and marine ecology, drysuit diving courses, enriched air nitrox courses and much more. We also host a variety of events around the UK for all levels of diver.

Absolutely! We welcome divers of all abilities - from those who are just starting out to more advanced experienced divers looking to further their skills. All you need is a passion for the underwater world!

Yes. All members must be aged 18 or over. If you're under 18, we offer our Discover Scuba Diving program which allows children between 12-17 years old to take part in supervised dives with an adult present at all times.

It depends on what level of training you require - our Ocean Diver qualification can normally be achieved within just 8 weeks while our Sports Diver level can typically be obtained within 16 weeks depending on how often you dive and practice your skills.

Yes - BSAC qualifications are recognised by most national governing bodies throughout the world so if you're travelling abroad with your certification you will still be able to dive safely with other organisations overseas.

Not necessarily - although having your own personalised kit definitely helps give you better familiarity when in the water; some basic items like masks and fins may be provided by us however we do recommend that everyone has their own wetsuit before beginning any activity with us.

Yes - All new members pay an annual membership fee which covers the cost of insurance and access to places such as clubshouses around Britain where we hold regular events such as dive meets and seminars. The amount varies depending on what type of membership chosen but it starts from £25 per year for basic membership options.

No - All that's required is proof that you are medically fit enough to participate in underwater activities such as scuba diving or snorkelling; once this is established then you can start your journey into becoming a fully qualified member of BSSC!
