What does BRAVE mean in UNCLASSIFIED

BRAVE stands for Brampton Riverhawks Against Violence Everywhere. We are an organization dedicated to promoting a safe and secure environment in Brampton, through public education and advocacy initiatives.

BRAVE was founded on the belief that everyone has a right to feel safe in their community, and no one should have to experience violence or fear violence. We strive to create an environment where people can live free of fear and harm.

BRAVE focuses on addressing mental, physical, emotional, sexual, economic and structural forms of violence that individuals may experience in their everyday lives.

At BRAVE we recognize the important role prevention plays in eliminating the problem of violence in our community. To this effect we work with local organizations and institutions to ensure they have the necessary resources to support those affected by violence. We also focus on providing educational programs throughout Brampton schools aimed at teaching students about anti-violence strategies and how they can help keep themselves safe from harm.

Through our educational programming, BRAVE offers workshops that cover topics such as non-violent conflict resolution skills; bystander intervention; bullying prevention; sexual harassment; intimate partner violence awareness; building healthy relationships; self-care strategies for managing distress; along with various other relevant topics.

One of the best ways you can show your support for us is by donating directly to our cause so we can continue working towards creating a safer space for all citizens of Brampton. Additionally, you can get involved directly by volunteering with us or spreading the word about the work we do within your network so more people can benefit from our services.

While we do not provide direct services ourselves, we serve as a referral source connecting clients with service providers who specialize in providing trauma-informed care such as counselling sessions, therapeutic interventions, workshops etc.
