What is the purpose of Geneseo Youth Baseball Softball?

The purpose of Geneseo Youth Baseball Softball (GYBS) is to provide an organized, competitive and safe softball program for youth ages 7-15 in Livingston County. Our goal is to develop a sense of team spirit, sportsmanship and respect while teaching them basic fundamentals as well as advanced techniques.

What are the age requirements for GYBS?

Participants must be between the ages of 7-15 years old in order to participate in GYBS. Players younger than 7 can register for our Rookie Division where they can receive instruction on the fundamentals of softball from our coaches.

Are there benefits to joining GYBS?

Yes! Not only does GYBS provide opportunities for children to develop their athletic skills, but it also teaches important life lessons such as teamwork, sportsmanship and respect. In addition, all participants will receive a free t-shirt and ball cap that they can wear proudly when representing the organization.

Is prior experience necessary?

No prior experience is necessary to join GYBS. We welcome players of all skill levels who want to learn and grow within the sport. Coaches will provide instruction on proper techniques so that everyone can improve their game over time.

Is there a chance to compete against other teams?

Yes! We have numerous tournaments throughout the season which allow our teams to compete against others from the local area or even across state lines if possible. This gives players the opportunity not only hone their skills against others but also build relationships with new teammates along the way.

How much does it cost to join Geneseo Youth Baseball Softball?

The registration fee for Geneseo Youth Baseball Softball varies based on what division/team you join, however typically fees range from $50-$150 depending on your situation. This fee covers equipment costs, uniforms and tournament fees among other things essential to running a successful organization like ours.

When do practices start?

Practices typically begin a few weeks before games start in order give teams enough time prepare and build team chemistry before they take the field. Dates vary by team but an updated practice schedule will be made available by your coach once you've registered.

Is there anything else I need besides my registration fee?

Players are required to bring their own bats, gloves and batting helmets though everything else should already be provided by your coach at practice time including balls, bases etc…

Can I sign up with friends or family members on my team?

Yes! We encourage families or friends looking to play together to sign up together when registering so that we may place them on the same team if possible. However please note that due availability and space restrictions this is not always possible.
