History

BRA was originally established by two founders - Mário Pereira Lopes Leal and Adhemar de Barros in December 1936, seven months after Brazilian President Getúlio Vargas created the National Civil Aviation Department (DAC). The two men purchased 50 percent of the shares owned by Colombo-American Airways Corporation, allowing them to set up BRA with a fleet of just three airplanes. In 1938, the airline began its first international flight route between Recife-Natal-Cayenne-Paramaribo-Caracas, which stopped at various points along the way before arriving at Caracas. As time progressed, BRA grew into one of Latin America's most successful airlines and expanded its fleet to include more than a dozen aircrafts that flew both domestic and international routes all around South America.

Current Operations

Today, BRA operates more than 30 planes on scheduled domestic and international passenger services from their main base at Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport. In addition to scheduled flights, BRA also provides charters for individuals or businesses who need quick transit from point A to point B in a safe and reliable manner. As part of their commitment to safety standards, BRA trains pilots according to ICAO guidelines on aviation safety procedures such as takeoffs/landings, communication protocols and emergency evacuation plans. Furthermore, they strictly adhere to preflight inspections as well as regular aircraft maintenance routines with checks being done on a daily basis before each flight takes off.
