What does CMJ mean in JOURNALS

The Ceylon Medical Journal is a quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal published by the Sri Lanka College of General Practitioners. It provides an authoritative source of information relevant to healthcare in Sri Lanka and in the wider South Asian region, as well as general clinical articles with a regional emphasis.

Anybody with professional health experience may submit an article for consideration. All submitted manuscripts must be original and generally be related to medicine or healthcare in one way or another. Authors must disclose any conflict of interest upon submission.

All authors must complete registration on CMJ’s online system, ScholarOne Manuscripts, before submitting their manuscript, including providing full contact information such as name, address and telephone number. Submissions should be through the online system after which they will go through a double-blind peer-review process before being either accepted for publication or rejected based on quality criteria.

The review criteria include scientific accuracy and novelty of research, clarity and completeness of reporting, methodological soundness and applicability to clinical practice. After initial screening all manuscripts undergo peer review from at least two reviewers who are experts in the subject area of the submitted work. The reviewers assess each paper based on those criteria detailed above.

Yes, all submissions should not exceed 8000 words including abstract and references (1000 words for short communications). All supporting material such as illustrative figures must also be included within this word count limit and failure to adhere to this rule might result in rejection of your article without further consideration.

Yes, CMJ accepts submissions from all over the world but submissions related to Sri Lanka are preferred due to its focus on healthcare resources available locally. With that said, authors may include topics that widely affect other parts of Asia so long as it is relevant to the journal's scope.

No - only original research articles can be published in CMJ. Non-original work such as reviews or case studies can still be submitted; however they must contain new material instead of summarizing existing literature.

As stated before, any original research material related to medicine or healthcare can be considered by reviewers if it meets their criteria standards mentioned previously and has relevance infrastructure available locally/regionally/globally.
