Philosophy & Curriculum
At HWMS, we believe strongly that each student should have access to rigorous academics taught by experienced educators. Our curriculum follows the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) standards which are designed to give all students an equal opportunity for success in higher education and beyond. The core courses covered at our school include English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education/Health Education (PE/HE) and Electives. We also offer specialized programs such as Advanced Placement classes where students can challenge themselves academically while earning college credits toward their future studies. Our enrichment options include music lessons offered both during the school day as well as after-school programs such as band and chorus.
Community Involvement
At HWMS we recognize the value of participation in our local community events and activities outside of the classroom walls. We strive to encourage our students to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports teams or clubs related to their interests so they can explore new hobbies or cultivate talents they already have through meaningful interactions with peers from other schools or outside organizations. We also sponsor various community philanthropy projects throughout the year to help bring awareness about important causes while allowing our students an opportunity to use their voices towards positive change within their own communities.
