What does CLC mean in CONFERENCES

The Central Lakes Conference (CLC) is an organization that consists of member high schools in Minnesota dedicated to providing quality interscholastic athletics and activities for its student-athletes. The purpose of the CLC is to promote sportsmanship, a positive athletic experience, and academic excellence. By participating in the CLC, student-athletes are given the opportunity to compete against schools from all over the state and achieve their full potential.

The CLC currently consists of 19 member schools across the state of Minnesota. These 19 schools are divided into two divisions: North and South.

The CLC offers numerous interscholastic activities including football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, track & field, golf, cross country, Alpine skiing & snowboarding as well as many other activities such as speech, one act play and knowledge bowl.

All rules associated with any type of activity within the CLC are monitored by a board of directors comprised of athletic administrators from all member schools. This board meets on a regular basis to discuss issues impacting CLC activities and set policies for sportsmanship expectations.

Yes. All students wishing to participate in any activity hosted by the CLC must adhere to state eligibility rules which include maintaining a minimum GPA as well as being on track for graduation at their school district's standards. Students must also remain free from any form of substance abuse or criminal activity while participating in any CLC event or activity.

Yes. Each school that wishes to become a member must pay an annual membership fee which helps cover administrative costs associated with running each event or activity hosted by the CLC throughout the year such as sanction fees, awards expenses and insurance coverage for each student-athlete participating in CLC events or competitions.
