What does ADBC mean in CLUBS

The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club (ADBC) is a non-profit organization that provides a friendly and fun environment for dragon boat racing and cultural exchange. We are committed to promoting the health benefits of paddling, camaraderie, team spirit, and sportsmanship, while educating members about Eastern culture and its traditions.

Becoming a member of ADBC is easy! All you need to do is join our website, pay an annual fee ($20 for individual membership or $35 for family membership), and complete the necessary forms. Once your application has been processed you will be added to our roster as a full member!

No! You don’t have to be an experienced paddler to join ADBC. Whether you’re new to dragon boat racing or an experienced paddler, we welcome everyone who has an interest in learning about this traditional Chinese sport.

Yes! Our coaches provide instruction on proper technique throughout the year so that all participants can have successful experiences on the water. We also offer specialized group workouts and drills in preparation for competitions if desired.

Absolutely not! Children as young as 10 years old are welcome to join us in becoming better paddlers by learning from our experienced coaches. However, minors must have parental/guardian approval before they are allowed to participate with us at any events or practices.

All participants will need their own personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), helmets and water resistant clothing before taking part in any activities hosted by us. Paddles are provided but participants may choose to bring their own if they prefer personalized equipment.

No prior experience on the water is needed in order to join ADBC; however, some programs may require participants to meet certain skill level requirements set by our club after closer examination of their capabilities. Overall, we advise everyone interested in joining us practice basic watersports skills first such as balance and comfortability afloat before getting more involved with activities at our club.

Yes! Alongside local competitions within Annapolis, we encourage members to participate in regional events that lead up international races such as The Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Festival each year if desired! We consider these trips essential to building club camaraderie whilst strengthening one another through cultural exchange opportunities too.

While standard registration fees apply upon initial application ($20/individual & $35/family memberships), there are additional charges associated with attending group practices & camps held regularly by the club which vary depending on location & duration.
