What does ACAG mean in ADVISORY

Atlantic Coast Advisory Group (ACAG) is a professional association of experts working together to provide advice and recommendations on issues related to the coastal environment. The ACAG develops proposals, analyses, and policy guidance related to topics such as land use planning, water quality, marine resources, and fish and wildlife conservation.

ACAG provides guidance and expertise on the impacts of policy decisions that can help shape the coastal environment. These include local, state, and federal regulations; funding mechanisms; data collection processes; public education efforts; and other important factors affecting how we protect our coasts.

The membership of ACAG consists mainly of professionals from a variety of backgrounds including those in academia, government agencies or departments, businesses or industry sectors, nonprofit organizations, community groups or grassroots organizations. Anyone may apply for membership by completing an application form.

Meetings are used to discuss topics related to the coastal environment such as water quality monitoring programs; best management practices; habitat restoration strategies; emerging threats from climate change; regulatory changes proposed by various agencies; and current research projects on coastal ecosystems. Each meeting also includes updates about current activities taking place in the region or within each organization represented by members.

ACAG meets six times a year at rotating locations throughout the year along the East Coast of North America. In addition to regular meetings, special meetings may be scheduled when needed such as during emergency situations or developing policies that require immediate attention.

Public comment can be made at an open meeting by submitting written comments prior to the meeting start date or calling in your comments over speakerphone during the meeting itself (view local time periods for public comment). All written comments must be sent via email to [email protected] before 12pm EST the day before each meeting date for them to be considered verbal comments must be submitted before 10am EST on meeting days only.

Yes! The organization publishes briefs describing its activities periodically as well as position papers outlining its views on specific areas of interest related to coastal management and stewardship programs. Additionally email updates are periodically sent out with newsworthy items from our partners along with upcoming event information.

No fee is required for membership in terms of dues/fees but voluntary contributions are accepted and appreciated depending upon your individual circumstance(s). There is also an optional book order program that provides informational materials about relevant topics being discussed amongst member organizations throughout the year.

Volunteers are always welcome from all types of backgrounds whether its helping us prepare for events & meetings or outreach initiatives such as beach cleanups & donation drives - there's always something new happening that could use extra hands or minds behind it! It's also a great way get engaged & build relationships with like-minded individuals who share similar interests in protecting our coastal environments.
