What does SESDP mean in DEVELOPMENT

The Secondary Education Sector Development Project (SESDP) is a joint initiative of the Government of Pakistan and the World Bank. It is an integrated project aiming to develop and strengthen secondary education in Pakistan.

The goals of SESDP are to provide equitable access to quality secondary education, improve student learning outcomes, support curriculum reforms, strengthen institutional capacity, and develop improved teaching and learning materials.

SESDP seeks to improve access to quality secondary education among under-served populations by increasing investments in infrastructure as well as providing financial support for tuition fees for students from low-income families. In addition, it will also focus on recruiting more qualified teachers who can deliver quality instruction in rural areas.

SESDP will promote better learning outcomes through curriculum reform initiatives such as introducing new teaching methods that emphasize critical thinking skills and lifelong learning habits rather than rote memorization. Additionally, it will create standards for teacher training and qualification that ensure quality of instruction across all schools regardless of location or socioeconomic status of students.

The SESDP has four components which range from 2 - 5 years duration each depending on implementation progress made during that period. In total, the project length spans over a 10 year period with periodic reviews every two years or so depending on need and progress achieved during that time.
