What Does ODI Mean?

ODI stands for Optical Distance Indicator which is a device that measures the distance between two points using light waves. A typical ODI uses laser technology or other light-emitting sources such as infrared (IR) or ultraviolet (UV) radiation to detect objects at a certain distance away from it. These sources emit energy in short bursts that move through the air towards its target. When they reach the target, part of this energy bounces back towards the source where it is measured by a detector. The amount of energy detected is proportional to the distance between the source and target object so engineers can calculate how far away something is from them based on energy levels detected by their ODI device.
