What does ISF mean in SPORTS

The International Sports Federation (ISF) is a global organization which promotes and develops sports on an international level. It works with athletes, coaches, administrators, and federations from its member nations to ensure world-class standards for all of its sports. It also sets guidelines and regulations for international competitions, assists in athlete transfers between countries, and promotes sportsmanship among all participants.

The International Sports Federation’s objective is to promote good sportsmanship, increase awareness of global sports, encourage collaboration among athletes from different countries, as well as maintain quality in worldwide competition. The ISF works with a variety of stakeholders to develop initiatives that promote equality in sport.

The ISF Board of Directors oversee activities within the organization. This board consists of 11 members appointed by the Executive Council on a 2-year basis. The Chairperson oversees all board meetings and is elected from amongst them by majority vote every 2 years. Additionally, the Board appoints a President who leads the day-to-day operations of the federation.

Currently there are 154 countries affiliated with the International Sports Federation across five continents.
