What does ETCC mean in EUROPEAN

The European Touring Car Cup (ETCC) is a touring car racing series organised by the German sanctioning body, FIA. It has been running since 1965 and is currently one of the most prestigious international touring car competitions. It features drivers from a variety of countries and race tracks, and offers exciting and competitive racing.

The ETCC consists of two main championships, two support races, and three other events throughout the year. These include four rounds of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), a 2-day pre-season test at Estoril Circuit in Portugal, a round of Rallycross at Rincon de los Sauces in Spain, as well as two spectacular street circuits held at Valenciennes in France and Nogarô in Brazil.

The ETCC is open to all professional touring car drivers who possess a valid license from their country’s national motor sport authority. All drivers participating must be aged 18 years or over.

An ETCC race typically lasts for about two hours, including qualifying time. During this time drivers complete multiple laps around the circuit while being scored based on their overall performance during each lap. At the end of the two hours, points are then awarded to the top three finishers.

Some popular venues for ETCC races include Spa Francorchamps and Zandvoort circuits in Belgium, Estoril Circuit in Portugal, Brands Hatch Track in England, Nürburgring circuit in Germany, Hungaroring circuit near Budapest in Hungary and Monza Autodrome near Milan in Italy.

Points are allocated to each driver according to their position when they cross the finish line after every lap during a race event. In addition to this points will also be awarded for pole position of each round as well as fastest lap times during any event. Points can also be awarded if any driver achieves certain objectives such as setting track record times or overtaking other competitors within set guidelines.

Safety is paramount for any motorsport event and all participants must abide by strict safety standards established by FIA regulations before being allowed to participate. This includes wearing appropriate protective equipment such as fireproof overalls and helmets with face shields which meet FIA standards.
