What is DIW?

DIW stands for Dextrose In Water, also known as glucose in water or dextrose-saline. This refers to a type of sugar solution which has been mixed with a specific amount of water for intravenous (IV) administration. The concentration of the solution usually ranges from two percent to fifty percent concentration, depending on the user’s needs and medical requirements.

Dextrose is a type of sugar which plays an important role in providing energy for cells throughout the body.
