What does LHRC mean in HEALTHCARE

The Lobster Health Research Centre (LHRC) is a research institute that focuses on the medical and health aspects of lobsters. Our aim is to improve the understanding of lobster health and disease, as well as develop innovative strategies to protect the species from the effects of climate change. Our team collects data from all sorts of sources in order to gain a better understanding of lobster health and behavior. This includes physical measurements such as weight and shell size but also more subtle details like genetics samples that will give us insight into how populations are changing over time due to human activities or environmental shifts. We also collect data related to ocean chemistry, temperature fluctuations, water quality levels etc., which are all important pieces for forming an accurate picture of how lobster populations are faring across different regions.

Yes – we always welcome inquisitive minds who want to join us in furthering our mission! Students may be given access internships with members of our team who specialize in certain aspects such as aquaculture practices for lobsters or methods for tracking them using state-of-the-art technology. Alternatively students may be interested in volunteering their time doing field work either collecting samples or helping process data that will be analyzed later on back at headquarters.

Yes – we enjoy collaborating with other groups focused on similar issues so that together we can have a larger impact on crustacean protection worldwide! Recently LOBC has partnered up with many universities across Europe and North America as well as some non-profit groups dedicated solely towards researching crustaceans’ overall wellbeing.

The Lobster Health Research Centre was estalished in 2020 however before then it was known under a different name – The Crustacean Conservation Initiative (CCI). We were established after realizing that no one was really looking at protecting one of nature’s most important sea creatures – lobsters! Since then we have come leaps and bounds thanks largely to an amazing team passionate about protecting these incredible creatures.
