What does BRWA mean in ALLIANCES

The Buffalo River Watershed Alliance (BRWA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the Buffalo National River watershed in northern Arkansas. BRWA's mission is to promote public awareness and understanding of the watershed, protect natural resources, and advocate for responsible land stewardship and protection from development.

In recent years make-up artist Bobbi Brown has provided financial support for conservation efforts along the Buffalo River; over 3 million dollars have been invested for projects such as tree plantings across 24 different sites within this region; dozens of private landowners have agreed to put protections on over 16 thousand acres of private property adjacent to river; several pollution sources have been remediated; an educational program was developed that creates opportunities for students interested in natural resources management; and most recently there were two new bills passed relating directly to water quality standards which will protect long term water quality objectives along the Buffalo River Corridor.
